I read on this wonderful board that the cheapest seam guide is a thick stack of post-it-notes to guide the elusive scant 1/4" seam. OMG - how easy! Why did I resist for so long??? And when it needs to be removed for diagonal seams, bobbin changing or loses its stickiness - just remove the one from the bottom and re-stick. Thank you, whoever it was that conviced me to try this! Makes me want to go sew JUST ONE MORE SEAM!

The only way to sew with straight lines!!! I started doing this last year it is amazing how something so simple can make such a big difference!

I'm going to have to try this... helps for the sleeping quilter, I bet.

Another way to make straight seams is to take a thick slice of masking tape and place it as far as you need away from your needle to guide the fabric. I cut a deep slice across the width of a masking tape roll with a utility knife (about 7-10 layers thick). Unroll your slice and place it 1/4 inch from your needle in front of the presser foot. Your fabric should glide along the tape edge toward the needle keeping a straight seam.

Are you saying that use a post it note stack beside your foot to keep your seam line straight?

Why not use what they have been using for years, either the magnetic seam allowance guide or Moleskin!
