Has any one made pot holders? I am making table runners for gifts and was thinking of making a matching pot holder. My question is what do you use for the filling. The pattern I saw suggested using double batting but did not say what kind. I know you can use heat proof fabric but don't know if you use any other fill besides or if you can replace the heat proof fabric with pre quilted fabric.

Thanks Judy in Michigan Several years ago I made potholders and my LQS had a batting called Thermabatt (I think) it was thema something. I have seen other posts at this site suggest wool batting. Never use polyester as if item is hot enough it can melt the fiber. |
I would NOT use polyester -- I have heard warm and natural cotton batting is good

I use my old ironing board covers. Heat resistant. 'Makes me feel less wasteful when they get so scorched I'm embarrassed for them to be seen.

I use a layer of warm and natural and insulbrite.

I use Insul-Bright.
