I've seen some beautiful quilts with Prairie Points and wondered how they hold up through the laundry, especially on a baby quilt that will be washed frequently. Any thoughts?

as long as they're sewn on securly I don't think it would be a problem

I agree, they are really secure as the entire bottom of the triangle is sewn in.

I was more worried about them losing shape than coming out.

My SIL made a baby quilt with prairie points for my daughter who is now 33. She still has the quilt and as far as I know they are holding up.

I made one about 30 years ago for my baby, and it was used and loved, not "babied". Then the next kiddo used the quilt to, using the little points to put his fingers in when he sucked his thumb. Yes, it help up well. The quilt was passed on when I didn't need it, and it looked great, probably washed dozens and dozens of times.

The prairie points will stand up as long as they are sewn well. Make sure you fold carefully, press the shapes and sew them with a generous seam. When doing individual points, nestle them together and sew them in a string before you fasten them to your quilt. They are such a pretty addition to any quilt. :lol:

I used prairie points on my DGD quilt. She takes it everywhere with her so it needs washed often and they have held up just fine.

That's a new idea! I had always pinned them individually to the edge, then sewn them directly to the quilt. Then I hand stitched the backing. I love the board for the new ideas here!
