Pre washed and not prewashed in same quilt

At QOV group today I picked up some pre-cut 2" strips for my next QOV. They're quilt shop fabrics and not pre-washed, but all of my stash is pre-washed. I'm worried about the not pre-washed shrinking after the quilt is done. Should I at least wet the fabric in the sink and then toss it in the dryer so the strips don't fray too much, but will still shrink up (hopefully not in the width), or will I be OK just using them as is with the pre-washed fabric from my stash? If it makes any difference, I use Warm and Natural batting and don't pre-shrink that. Thanks.

Most shrinkage is batting you should be okay

I agree, you should be okay.

I prewash everything - with one exception: Pre cuts such as 2 1/2" strips and 5" charm squares. I think it would be a nightmare if you wet those strips down and then toss them in the dryer. I just made a strip quilt that used a Robert Kaufman Jelly roll and strips that I cut myself from Moda Bella Solids from my stash. I washed it and there wasn't any issues with it. I think you are safe!

I don't wash kits or jelly rolls. I prewash my fabrics. You should be okay.

GREAT! Thank you all so much for the fast responses!

Hit them with some steam. that caused some Robert Kaufman strips to shrink. Luckily, it was when they were just in a block and I could fix it.

Have used both, washed and not washed in the same quilt. No problem.
Just be sure to use "Color Catchers" when you wash the quilt.

You didn't say what color it was, the only reason I would worry about pre-washing would be if it was red !!!
any thing else a color catchers should solve the problem. I never wash my pre-cuts....

if you do want to swish and dry I have a friend who even does it with charm squares, she slaps them on the bathtub/shower wall where they stick till dry :)
On the other hand I've never bought any of the rolls and squares because I figured after washing the cuts would be all off. which wouldn't fly with me.
