Prepping striped fabric for cuts?

I am making a top out of different pieces of striped fabric. I am a pre-washer and have starched the fabric. I try to iron the pieces so the stripes run straight but some of them have some wobbles in them that are difficult to get out. Any tips for how to best make these stripes behave?

That's one of the challenges of stripes!

It could be they are not perfectly straight in the first place.
When buying stripes, I look for a good quality fabric ... heavier, rather than lighter as I feel it will be more likely to hold it's positions, and less likely to get the wobbles.

Rather than "iron", "press" the fabrics ... when ironing, it is easy to stretch the fabric and then create the wobbles in the stripes.

I make sure to let dry before pressing, always iron along the stripe rather than across them, and I use my ironing surface edges to kind of line it up. I especially like stripes for borders and bindings!
