has anyone used this brand? my LQS sells it and says have customers that swear by it - guess one lady drives about an hour to the store just b/c they have a large selection of colors. it says it is algodon 100% which brings me to the next question - what is algondon?

algodon is cotton--Spanish, maybe
|
no idea of the brand but the name is in Spanish and means "presence". "Algodon" is cotton in Spanish

YOu can buy online too as tehy have wonderful sales. ANd you can get any size. I found them cheaper there but then again you can support your LQS. I love their thread. They will send you a cute sample packet too. Good luck.

I have used Presencia and is by far one of the best threads I have ever used. I had to drive to the Canadian border to get it and now that I have moved so far away, don't know where to get it. Is a little out of my price range too.

I have never heard of it. I am glad you posted about it. I am always game to experiement with a new thread, especially one that sounds so yummy.

City Quilter

I prefer this for embroidery- much nicer than the old 6 strand
floss. Recommended at my LQS Crazy Quilt class. |

I have a thread colletion you wouldn't believe. All kinds, all brands. I buy thread then look for fabric to go with it, lol. I said that to say this: Precencia is my absolute favorite! I have to order it online, usually from Red Rock Threads, but other places, too. Precensia outshines them all in my opinion. No lint, vibrant colors, and any color you can imagine. On the quilt you see by my name, it is all Batik jewel tones and the backing is a lime green batik. I changed colors for the top as I wanted the quilt to stand out rather than the stitching and used lime Precencia in the bobbin. This quilt is a generous king and I have no idea how many spools of Presencia I used. But I tend to leave my Superior, mettler, and others on the spool holder.

I am so sorry, I hit the send button twice. Didn't mean to do that.
