I have a question about a pressing sheet. I am going to use the Quiltsmart method for doing a double wedding ring quilt. I would like to find something to use as a pressing sheet. I know F&P makes one and Joann's carries it but I really don't want to pay 17.00 for something if I can get it way cheaper just because it doesn't have a fancy name on it or it is intended for another purpose!

SO what can I use as a pressing sheet to press fusible on? I thought about Silpat, but it is just as pricey. lol

If there is nothing else that would work I will just buy the F&P sheet with a coupon. But I am sure most of you will understand my tightwadedness!

I just use a old thin kitchen towel for a pressing cloth.

Well for a pressing cloth I use flour sack towels.

But what I am looking for is a sheet that you lay down and then you can iron the sticky side of fusible to it and it peels right off and doesn't affect the fusible at all. Once you peel it off you can go about putting it on materal and fusing it!

any scrap of thin cotton fabric will do.

I am not sure but I think they are the same silicon thing that you can buy for baking sheets. Not sure if they are any less expensive.

Does Harbor Freight carry anything that could be used????

I just use the release paper that the fusible comes on.

Recently I purchased Oven Mate Drip Sheets that you put on the bottom of the oven from Menards and they were about $2.19 each (about 16 x 20?)

Instructions say they're good to 500 degrees. Would your iron be that hot?

For $2 I'd try it before spending $$$ on something specifically for quilters.

I really like my applique pressing sheets :D Well worth the money spent on it... I got mine off of ebay years ago, 2/$10 I like having two, one to protect my ironing board cover and another to place on top, to protect my iron :D:D:D

If I was going to use the release sheet from fusible? I would make sure and store it flat and without any wrinkles :wink:
