I'm wanting to have "Rosie" gussied up. I looked at a couple of places on the net that refurbished old machines, but would like to see who ya'll may have used. I live in the Dallas Ft Worth area and thought there might be someone in my area I can use. I appreciate any information and suggestions.

Are you thinking about repainting? I have seen the red and pink ones. My DH did mine, kind of like a car, needed wax, oiling, and a new belt. She sparkles now........he did a good job. Something like that, you can do it yourself........calla

I was thinking about a new color. I saw some really pretty ones on the net. They use auto paint, but not sure i want to tackel that myself. She sews like a dream

I painted one of mine with a color shifting auto paint. Its deep emerald green at one angle and deep purple from another. I did it myself with auto paint.... Alot of sanding.. priming... spraying... and clear coat. She's beautiful and my husband bought her for my 55th birthday.

Look for the thread about Vintage Machine Shop - or something like that. You can go through the many, many, many pages and find some pictures of machines that Billy has worked on. When he is feeling more like his self, I am going to send my Singer Red Eye to him to work on. |
thank you for letting me know.....

He does beautiful work.

I bought mine (my avatar) from someone in Fort Worth. I think he sends them to someone else to get refurbished. If you are interested, PM me and I will send you his name and number.

I love the idea of color shifted paint! There are some people who will shudder at the idea of painting a featherweight. The purists believe that they should be kept in their original condition to preserve their value.
I'm thinking that I'd love to give mine a new look that would make it even more special to me. I'd love to see some pictures too! |
