Some fat quarters I have bought were cut kind of wonky. When I squared them up I didn't have a fat quarter any more. Is that the norm or did I just get some that were cut carelessly?
Opinions? Ideas? Tips and thoughts. Thanks These were bought at a local fabric store. |
I never had that problem with FQ. Have with yardage though. Maybe the salesperson had a bad day cutting. When you go back inform them of your problem and they may correct it with another FQ.

I have bought some like that.I bought a few batik jelly rolls-they were awful-more than a half inch varience-now I cut my own strips,I can cut better than that, lol

I've had the same problem.

Been there. Done that. I purchased a lot of what turned out to be wonky fat quarters when I was a new quilter. I got them at an outlet place and it was not good quality fabric. I just chalked it up to experience and didn't go back to that store.

I have this all the time with FQ not cut by the manufacturer. I now avoid buying those or only get them when they are super cheap. Some online stores will cut their own too. I have had bad experience of them being cut too small or cut side ways so I could just use a small strip like rectangle.

Our local LQS's all cut their own... I have watched them when they were in a hurry, they didn't look that straight to me either :(

I always ask if the cuts are die cut or hand cut. I usually don't buy hand cut pre cuts.
