Ok... I know this is not normal but I need suggestions on making a pteradactyl quilt for a friends son. Other than drawing it out by hand on large paper I don't have a clue on how to do this. I want a twin size quilt and the only thing on it will be a large pteradactyl.

I don't draw well so I would have middle daughter do it.

Any other ideas.

Google images of pteradactyls and then you could applique them. coloring books are also a good place to get applique patterns. Then you can go have it enlarged at a copy shop. I don't know what the copyright police will say about this though. . . .

How about a picture from a coloring book? They usually have bold, simple lines, and would probally show up well on an overhead / or light box. :) Good luck. Beckie

A Pteradactyl is a teradactyl... it is a flying dinosaur. I'm not looking to blow copywriting laws, just looking for suggestions. Ryan, the little boy, is facinated with them and I can't find any pattern for it. Thought maybe someone else knows.

Probably will have to draw it out and make it an original.

I recently wanted a large map of Africa. I traced one online then on top of the drawing divided it into 1 inch segments, on a separate piece of freezer paper them drew 4 inch segments. Went back and connected the lines just like they were on the inch segments-- Voila! it worked. If you have a coloring book page you do this on it. It is simply a scale.

I printed shark pictures online from coloring pages. I then took them to my copy shop and had them enlarged. It worked great for applique work.
