Quality of Springs Industries Fabric

I bought a few yards of pink floral "Springs Industries, Inc." Fabric from a lady getting rid of much of her stash. Now I'm wondering if this is good quilting fabric, or something less than LQS quality. It doesn't feel great. When I bought it, I was such a new quilter that I didn't know the difference. Now I'm a bit more careful. Does anyone know if this would be good for quilting? I only use LQS fabrics in my quilts ... guess I'm a "quilt snob". Also, when the salvage does not have the designer's name, I'm thinking that also means to stay away from it ... generally. Thoughts?

I think it is sort of cheap. If you are a quilt snob..and I am not saying that is bad--you will not be happy with it.

wash it and then feel it
I have used a lot of Springs fabric and it was good quality.
A designers name on the fabric doesn't mean it is the best quality.

Wash it and see how it comes out!! I think it should be just fine.

Spring Industries does not typically manufacture top of the line. If it looks like cheap goods next to the other fabrics .. it will always look like cheaper goods. I think your fingers are telling you something is not the same ... it probably is not equal. But some of the top of the line manufactures do use conditioners on the final finish of fabrics and can give a impression of a soft feel , washing is the only way to get to the real comparison.

If this is a much older fabric, it might be as good or better than most fabrics available these days. I, also, would wash it and then make a decision on whether to use it.

Most of the Springs Indursties Fabrics are good quality. But, with all makers, each fabric is different. Wash it and see how it feels and looks to you then.
