I have a back made for a baby quilt and I want the front to be appliqued bugs and I want the decorative applique stitch to be on the back squares. Has anyone done anything like this?

I did something like that on a baby quilt, except I put a pieces of fabric on the back side before I did the satin stitching, then trimmed it close to the stitching. That way I ended up with applique shapes on the back too.

Brilliant plant, Twisted! I love the look on the back.

Good idea and looks very cool....Gosh, there are some clever people here!

I have done that but mostly on wall hangings. I used fusible web to iron the applique onto the front, layered the quilt together and then done a blanket stitch around the applique which lets the shape show on the back of the quilt.
