I applique the cutest 25" bear on a background fabric using HeatnBond. It is very stiff. I managed to cut out the background fabric but the adhesive that remains on the bear applique still makes it stiff. Does anyone know how to take off the adhesive without washing it?

Do you window cut your heat and bond? That means to cut away all the heat and bond except for what is needed around the edges. You will have to cut the heat and bond and window it before you apply it to the applique.

I didn't this time and I knew better:(
So now I'm dealing with the consequences, being to stiff. I was able to cut the fabric behind the applique but it leaves a layer of adhesive on the bear applique.
any ideas????

Maybe place a very light weight fabric on the back, interfacing would work. I don't think you can remove the adhesive, and you will need to cover it. If it wrinkles in the dryer it could stick to itself if you don't cover it :D:D:D

I bet you got the red label H & B. You cannot sew it as you found out. I think it says that on the label.. It is a good product and has lots of staying power! I most always use the lite version and prefer Steam a Seam Lite.

Sometimes you can remove the adhesive by placing a piece of foil over it and ironing. When you lift the foil the adhesive comes with it, but I would try it on some scraps before anything I had alot of work in.

Fingernail polish remover (acetone) will remove many types of adhesive. Test on a scrap of fabric to see if it will remove this without affecting the dye.
