I'm getting ready to join some irregular sized blocks. They're all pretty close, but some are .25 to .5" larger or smaller that the 12.5 they need to be. Trimming them down will cut off points, so I'd prefer not to do that. And I don't think pressing to "stretch" them will work on the smaller ones. Do you think it would work to put sashing around them and adjust to a uniform size that way?

Thats what I would do...

That sounds like a perfect way to do it :D

That's what I did with these blocks alternating the bordering frame colours and you can't really notice any difference in sizes.

Very cute. I like the alternating colors. Thanks for the pic.

bj, I would add strips/sashing around them, then trim to a common size. It's sometimes called "coping strips" :D

The other alternative is to send them to me and I'll put the sahsing around the. I can always use another quilt or even a WIP. My zillion or so projets would only take up this lifetime. Its the next one tha I'll need to start thinking about!

Vicki, you're too funny. But this one already has a designated home...MINE! It's going to be the first quilt I've made and kept for myself!

Very nice. Putting the sashing on like that will hide the fact that they aren't all the same. No one will ever notice.

would you believe I made one row 10.5 and one row 11.5 and the funny thing is I never caught one till it was done...darn newbie...I was....first quilt.....looked okay to me....so left it that way...

I like your sashing idea....
