Pooh.... I lost the post where I was talking to the gals about this..... I'm thinking of buying some and trying it out.
Now do I use this IN PLACE OF batting/backing? Just sew to back of quilt top.

Also how does it wash up?

I pre-washed the fabric, used warm and natural for the quilt as you go but just minkee dot & a light, quality cotton for the other. I used my machine to sew the rolled minkee over, rather than bind the one I have here. The quilt as you go was a gift, so I did bind that one in a coordinated print (machine sewed the front and hand stitched the back). Hope this is useful.

Hi Bev, I made a baby quilt out of menke also. I embroidered a little duck in one corner, then sewed the menke and a soft cotton blend to it right sides together, left opening and turned it, pressed it from the cotton side, turning opening inward, used a cute little fancy sewing machine stitch all around the edges, and even machine tacked it randomly with a cute little star thingy and wa la, it was done. hope this gives you an idea what to do.

I saw a quilt show a few days ago where the gal put fleece on back of a childs quilt. She said it was easy and VERY warm.... Thats what got me thinking about the Minkee I heard about on here.

I made 2 throws and put fleece on the back and 1 baby quilt. When I do this, I don't stipple or meander, just tack- stitches about 8 or 9 in length, just to hold everything from moving. The back is then nice and smooth and soft. It also makes them faster(yes, finished, not UFOs). That way you get your beautiful quilt top but the functional warmth of the fleece.

I've bought minkee, but haven't been able to bring myself to cut it. I did find some scraps at Wal-Mart of mint green and grab it if I ever see it in the scrap bin. I want to make something, but haven't decided what I want to do yet. Everytime I make a quilt for the babies at our house, they go home with a Mom.
