Question about My Whimsical Garden pattern
http://www.pieceocake.com/Books/whim...iltgarden.html
I doing a swap using this pattern. Everyone supplies their choice of background fabric. I was wondering if anyone has made this quilt with a print background or a very dark background. I am leaning toward a dark rich purple. |
I haven't made it, but I think that would be stunning! They show it in a brown which I thing is pretty to, but purple would work nicely. Love to see the updates as you go

I've made it but did a white with tiny red dot background for some blocks and solid white for others. I have seen it done in dark brown.

I think it would be great in a dark background as long as your garden fabrics were brights or jewel tones.

Scroll down to the second picture, it's not a purple background (which I think would look great) but it might give you an idea of what it will look like

I really like the dark chocolate version. Some of the backgrounds are even prints and polka dots. I think it makes the quilt much more interesting, having several different (but similar) backgrounds. And that's a really cute pattern.

I have a couple of blocks done. This was block of the month for me. The background i is a tone on tone white dots. Think a dark background would probably be a really pretty quilt.
|
I think the dark background gives it a softer feel; the white background opens the potential for using the entire gamut of colors making the quilt just pop with energy. Depends on the mood you want to create.
|
That is one very nice pattern. Please share your photos on the purple when you are done. I think it will look fantastic.
|
Actually, I prefer the dark background. It seems to show off the flowers more. I think your plan to use dark purple would be beautiful. That is a very nice pattern.
