Question about old style Bernina presser feet
 

I have a Bernina 1530 and the other day while my DD was using it, she asked what the screw was for on the back of the presser foot. I have a multi purpose presser foot (can't remember the number of it) and a piecing presser foot (number 37) and they both have a little screw on the back but I don't know what it is for. I checked the manual, but couldn't find any mention of this or what it is for. Can anyone tell me what the screw is for?

If the presser foot shank has a hole through each side it might be so you can slide a seam guide through it and retighten the screw for doing straight line gridded sewing.

I just found some information about the seam guide and you are exactly right, mltquilt. The little hole and screw are for a seam guide. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

I love that Bernina has made their presser feet so that you can use a seam guide on ANY foot. It is a nice touch.

Well, I learned something today. Thank you for the info. I have a Bernina, and I always thought that little screw was for help getting the presser foot on the shaft. Now I know!
