I need to order some fabric that isn't available here in NZ, and I'm a *wee* bit nervous about buying sight unseen from an online shop. I have bought off ebay once before, and that went well, but we hear so many horror stories about goods not turning up and credit card fraud, etc.
Can you guys recommend good online stores that you've used? I need some fabric with Pug dogs on it. Thank you! :-) |
Other than eBay, the only other online place I've ordered from has been Connecting Threads. I was very pleased with them.
|
I used Whittles Fabrics and Connecting Threds and had good service from both. Some shops do not ship overseas though but I don't know about those two. Good luck
|
thousands of bolts, equilter, cotton club, blue bamboo, quilted quail, havasu quilts, and honey folk fabrics.
i've bunch tons and tons of fabric from these places and have been thrilled to death. |
Thanks.... it's always good to have real people's experiences. :-)
Whittles say they don't ship overseas, and Connecting Threads don't have what I'm looking for, but they do have some very nice fabrics! I've bookmarked that one, thank you. And thank you klue, I'll go have a look at those ones now. :-) |
I ordered from
Connecting Threads, but that don't help you. If they don't have what you need. also ordered from http://www.todaysquilting.com/newsle...ewsletter.html I ordered on Thursday evening and It arrived here Monday afternoon. Great fabric |
Don't know if they ship overseas or will have what you want but Nixie Chicks is good. Also Eleanor Burns has lots of fabrics and sometimes great sales. :D
|
I'm having trouble finding anything like the picture I have in my head. I may have to print my own pictures.
|
I've ordered from Grandma's Attic in Dallas, Oregon and was very pleased with their service. LINK
|
I love fabric.com -- and they take PayPal and a lot of other credit cards. Their prices are reasonable and they ship very quickly!
|
Connection Threads and Thousands of Bolts are my favorites. I have ordered from E Bay and never had a problem.
|
I've ordered from Keepsakequilting and Connecting threads but they are pugless. My attitude is that if the fabric is important to me, I take the risk. Since you pay with a credit card, if anything goes bad, you can always dispute the charges.
|
I havent ordered from their website but have purchased at craft fairs from this place www.patchworkfabrics.com.au and I have been more than pleased with their quality and large range. If you cant find someone who ships to New Zealand then you might be in luck with this company as they are in NSW in Australia. Here is also their email address [email protected]. Hope yo find what you are looking for.
|
I like to use www.fabricdepot.com. They are located in Portland, Oregon and have a huge selection of good quality fabric. I have bought from them several times online with no problem.
|
I have yet to have a bad experience ordering online. I love fatquartershop.com, thousandsofbolts.com, and a few others. I'm not on my computer, so I don't have my bookmarks...sorry.
But, I would go for it, and you're more likely to have a positive experience, than bad!! |

I'd like to chime in with two thoughts: if you do decide to buy from outside your country, please keep in mind that it can take a long while for international packages to be delivered! From the US to the UK, Japan, or Australia we've heard that it usually takes 2-3 weeks. This is NOT the impression that you get, when you visit the US Post Office's website; they make you think it will arrive in 5-7 days! To Italy and France it takes at least six weeks. And delays are always possible, especially around holiday time. So if buying from overseas, it is very important to plan ahead and allow enough time, and not to panic if your package doesn't arrived right away. Secondly, if you ever are in the position of disputing a charge, please be kind and contact the seller first, before filing the dispute. This gives them the chance to look up your order and see if they can figure out what happened. It could be something as simple as a typo in the shipping address, or a missing apartment number. It leaves both buyer and seller with a better feeling, if they get a chance to solve the problem between themselves. Call me naive, but I really do believe that most people are honest. Also - and if you've never had a business, you won't know this - when a customer files a chargeback, the merchant gets hit with a hefty fee. Even if it's resolved in the merchant's favor, the merchant still gets hit with a fee. PayPal also has buyer protection, too, which works similarly. |
Oh Ladies! What wonderful sites ... what exciting designs ... how broke I'll be ...
Need to get DD off to college so she can't cramp my style in the collecting of fabrics for quilting:) |
I've ordered a ton of fabric from www.equilter.com and have always been happy.
|
Equilter.com has two fabrics that have pugs on them, but unfortunately on both the pugs are included with numerous other breeds. If you click on the "dog" section, one fabric is the large one at the top and the other is near the end of the second page.
Now I want to make my little Pekingese (his pic is my avatar) a new dog bed. :D Sandy |
I have tried Connecting Threads, and they don't ship to Ireland. I also tried Thousands of Bolts, as they had loads I wanted. In spite of them telling me they ship overseas to loads of places, their website wouldn't let me pay. I could put in all the order, but then it said it didn't recognise my address. I contacted customer services, who said they would order for me, but four weeks later, I gave up trying.
Hancocks of Paducah do send overseas, and I have had a lot from them, but get a little frustrated with back orders trailing in long after the rest has arrived. |

|
You have so many more options with online fabric shopping (skies the limit). My favorites are BatiksPlus, EQuilter, Thousands of Bolts and Hancock of Paduca. I have never been disapointed. Have fun shopping!

http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/ http://www.keepsakequilting.com/ I've had excellent service at all three of these online shops. |
There is a lot of good information here!
Hope you find what you are looking for! |
I have never ordered from this shop, but I have heard very good reports from others who have. I do not know if she ships internationally, but there is contact info on the website. You might also arrange with a forum member here in the states to ship to you privately. http://www.hotdiggitydog.com/

|
Try Web Fabrics - they will ship worldwide, and the quality of their fabrics is wonderful!
|
equilter is the place I use the most, their closeups of the fabric swatches are right on on my monitor. I believe they will send a 2x2 inch sample. Happy quilting!
|
I have ordered from fabric.com and fabricdepot.com and have been very happy with both. Fabrics were exactly as ordered and shipments were made quickly and correctly!!
Blue chicken if you are able to find nice "Pug" fabric can you let me know where you find it........I would love to get some.......LOVE MY PUG!! I saw a beautiful quilt someone made with pugs on it...but have never seen that fabric......most fabrics I have seen have a variety of breeds on the same fabric. Good Luck with your search. Barb |
Mary Jo's now has a website and you can order fabric from her on the internet (notions too!). I haven't ordered from her since I live only 30 minutes from her store. It's my favorite place!
I have little willpower when I go to Mary Jo's; my oldest daughter has asked me to please not will my cloth to her. (Does that tell you how much cloth I have?) Bebe in North Carolina |
equilter.com has great fabrics and great service
|
I live in Canada and have ordered from www.fatquartershop.com in the
USA and there is a local shop in British Columbia that has wonderful fabric and an on-line store. Try www.hamelsfabrics.com Hope this helps. Nancy |
HI,
A place I have purchased from is WWW.Marshalldrygoods.com They have good prices and fabric and postage is reasonable. vinette |
I've ordered twice from www.jofabrics.com and been happy with what I received. Good quality and colors as pictured online. They have a good selection and the site is well organized.
|
I buy a lot of fabric online, much more than I buy locally. That way my quilts don't look like everone else's in the guild. I go through www.quiltshops.com. I've never had a problem with their member shops.
Marilyn I especially recommend Over the Rainbow in Washington state. Laura is great to deal worth. And her prices are good. :-D |

I found this with pug dogs only on it. |
I have ordered from Mary Jo's fabrics of Gastonia NC, Sew What Fabrics and Batiks Etc. in Wytheville, VA, Martha Pullen Co of Huntsville, AL and have had good success with all of them. Don't know if they ship overseas.
Wanda |
