I now several of you have made the yellow brick road, in fact some have said it is their favorite. My pattern for a full size calls for 30 fat quarters. My question is, how many different colors and patterns provides the best results?
|
some people choose 30 different fabrics- others buy yardage and narrow down the selection (30 fq's = 7 1/2 yards)
some choose 15 and get 1/2 yards--- it is up to you what you like- if you want it all different it's ok- if you only want to use 2 colors you can do that too. everyone has their own color sense- some like busy- lots different - some not so much |
do a search in yahoo Images and look at photos of those quilts.

I have the pattern but have yet to make it.

Use as many colors as you like.

I made one with just pinks and purples. All cotton prints except one batik I threw in because I like the way it looked. So the answer is - do what you want to.

I would like to suggest 3 or 4 different colors/shades to give some interest and contrast. You also should have 3 or 4 different prints in all your shades. :-) It's an easy pattern and pleasing to the eye! :-)

use as many as you can because sometimes the fabric is shy of the true fat quarter 20 inches sometimes the selvage is too wide

I did mine in many different fabrics, all yellow/blue fabrics as a wedding present for an old friend
They loved it. |
Ive made it using all scraps....... no matter what you do, it turns out gorgeous!
