Ok before I started tying my quilts I watched this video. Now that I have two of them tied I am concerned. (a little slow on the uptake)
Please watch the video. At first the lady says "right over left" even though she is showing left over right.
I did my knots left over right like the video shows not like she "says" Please tell me my knots won't fall out when the quilts are washed.
Thanks for any help on this. I appreciate it.

I watched and I don't think it matters which way you put the yarn over as long as it is done two times the same way. I hope this helps.

I've tied many quilts - I believe, and it's been my experience that it does not matter.

They should be fine
I like to tie left over right and then right over left, it makes a good strong knot. But everyone has there own preferences :D:D:D

Thanks everyone. I am so glad it doesn't seem to matter. I am almost done with my last one to tie. Yeah.
Amma if I do any more tie quilts I'll try it the way you do it.
Thanks again
Carol

You are not the only one who noticed. One of the responses asks which is correct, the words - or the action? I think she just misspoke and didn't realize.

Am on dial up so can't watch the video but like others have said, it probably doesn't make a difference. Used to be a "den mother" for Cub Scouts and knot tying was one of the things taught the boys. A square knot will not easily come untied. You cross the right hand string(rope) over and around the left hand one, then you take the left hand string (was 1st on the right side) and cross it over and around the right hand one. Pull the knot tight, should look kinda like a figure eight. Remember "Right over left, Left over right" kinda like screwing on the hose "Righty tighty, lefty loosey" Clear as mud? :D

I don't think it matters.... I tie my quilts too.

You're making a square knot. Right over left, then left over right. If you start with left over right, then do right over left. Either way makes a square knot which is pretty strong.

I also do it this way as this makes a square knot. When I have volunteered at Project Linus they also say to do it like this.
