That quilt is very pretty!! I would wash flannel at least a couple of times because it doesn't shrink all the way with the first washing

I'm with them - washing and drying it until it is stable, then it should be fine.

Thanks all. I will make sure to wash it. I am thinking I would like to quilt it with shapes that relate to dogs, hydrant, bones, etc.

Your quilting sounds great - puppy pawprints and doggy stuff will really look great!

Really pretty - you're not going to give it to a dog, are you?

Since we are talking flannel, my DH has unsucessfully tried to quilt on a flannel back. He uses a Bailey on a Gracie frame. It keeps bunching up underneath. I haven't tried my hand at machine quilting with a frame yet so I can't give him any advice. Is there a special techique one needs to use when quilting on flannel?

No this is for me. I made my Rottie two doggie sized quilts that were simple 4 patch.

I have never quilted on flanner either. I have a hoop. Can anyone shed some light on this procedure?

Anne, I remember seeing this quilt before now that I look at it again. I liked it the 1st time...and still like it now. As for the procedure for quilting on flannel...beats me. I've never used any flannel but don't know why it would be any different other than the thickness. Good luck with it! I love your quilting plan and can't wait to see it done.

Thanks Patti.

It may be a while before I get up the nerve. Plus I have just started another top. (Just like my mother, always working on more than one thing). LOL.
