Do you iron your customers quilts after you quilt them?
She said she set the seams by doing that. I haven't heard that before. Not sure I like it.

I have never heard of a Longarm Quilter pressing the quilt when finished quilting.

No I don't. Never heard of it. My best advice when working with a long armer is first get a good photo of the top. When you drop the quilt off, get everything in writing. Thread mfg & color, how it's going to be quilted, estimated cost & date of completion, name of panto if used etc. Formal contract is best, but just something in writing is better than nothing. When you pick it up, make sure to allow enough time to look it over good BEFORE paying and leaving. This is not just for the person who pieced the top, it's for the long armer too.
I'd take it back and at least ask her about the items you listed.

The shop where I help out we always press the tops and backs before loading onto the machimebut NEVER press them after they are sewn......

I have heard of steaming not ironing, ironing would remove some of the quilting definition, making it flatter, if there are wrinkles they should just hover with steam

No never after quilting and I have the top maker press it before it comes to me. If I have to Press the top or back thats extra.

Mine does not, and I would definitely prefer they don't. Besides there are no "seams" to set, it is just top stitching right? I'm not sure I see the benefit in it.
