Hi SunnyHope!
My 'correct' one is the yellow bug print one. The only issue I had was in getting my seam allowances right. I had to do some 1/4", and some a hair less. I have no idea why that was.
I'm guessing you can do the pattern anyway your heart desires!
Have fun with it!!
:-) :-)

Thank you!

I said it makes cutting quilts out so much quicker. An it also helps get the boarders cut so much faster. An when I cut my binding I use my hubies framing square to mark the material an cut away. It's so much quicker.

When I first started quilting I found that blocks that were supposed to be 12 1/2 before sewing to other blocks always came up too small when I made them. I found out several years later that I was not paying strict attention to the fabric as it was sewn and I was "losing" more than a quarter inch.

I'm not sure what kind of set-up you have for determing a 1/4", but what I've found useful is a little tidbet that I picked up somewhere.

You know those stacks of post-it-notes, I'll take 1/2 of a stack and place it at the 1/4" mark and tape it down. I put the notes forward more and just a little past the needle in back. This way I don't have to watch my foot for an accurate 1/4". Its made sewing more enjoyable. :D

Once sewn your individual pieces should be 1/2 inch smaller, so your 6" should be 5.5", etc. I didn't realize this was an old post-sorry.

This was interesting to me because a lot of the time my blocks are a different size than they are supose to be. So I sewed the strips together and I got the same size as Molly. took it apart and made a smaller seam and gee whiz it came out the right size. So thaks Auntluc & thaks Molly for the question.

I'm making it for my grandson's birthday, which is the beginning of May. Good thing I have plenty of time to get it figured out! lol!!

that slotted ruler has been a life saver for me but I have screwed up once or twice an not counted my stripes just rigt an ended up short 1/2inch.But it didnt matter in mine i was cutting strips for log cabin quilts out of scrapes I was given.SO enjoy your ruler. If cutting a lot of the same size mark your lines that your cutting an that'll make it easier.Thats what I'm going to start doing on big stuff.
