Question with NEW Baby Lock Grace 1/4 seam foot.

I just bought a new Baby Lock Grace machine. I'm sewing my first quilt with it and it seems the 1/4 inch foot catches under the 1/4 inch seam allowance when sewing. (when sewing two pieces together) The shape of the foot is a bit unusual. It has an angle. Has anyone had this issue? I have to pick up the foot and push that seam allowance under the foot in order to sew it flat. This is not going to be fun if I have to do this with every block I put together. Did I explain it well enough? Geeze :(
Has anyone experienced this?
Thank you for your imput.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to describe. Could you post pics of your foot and what is happening when you sew? I am having trouble picturing how a presser foot could get caught under your seam allowance.

I'll give it another attempt before pictures. When sewing the top piece to the bottom: say.. having sewn 1/2" squares together in a strip and attaching them to the bottom fabric, the way the Baby Lock Grace's 1/4 pressure foot is designed part of the pressure foot (the left side) hooks or catches under the 1/4 seam on that top seam of the half square as I sew the top to the bottom in a strip. Does that help explain?

I am not picturing it either. I have a Babylock, although a different model and I am wondering what your 1/4 inch foot looks like. Does it have a guide? Mine does not. Just wondered.

Whitney, I have noticed the same thing. I have an Ellure Plus. I bought the foot at the Baby Lock store. Anxious to see what others say.

Geeeze.. I think I've have it figured out. I'm sewing on the wrong side. All those seams should be on the bottom. I was sewing them on top because I wanted to make sure I didn't have any of the seams folded over the wrong way.
Goodge Baby Lock Grace 1/4 inch pressure foot and you will find a close up picture. That little part that angles out to make the foot wider is what catches. Maybe this helps us both. I'm causeing my own issues day..

SingerSewer.. Thanks.. but still... My old Kenmore Sears machine's pressure foot 1/4 guild is stright across and doesn't pick up any of those little steams.

Is this the presser foot you are using?

If so, be sure you are lining up your fabric on the appropriate marks on the foot as you begin sewing. There should be instructions in your manual or with the foot if it was purchased separately.

yes it is... The next time I'm out I'll stop at the quilt shop where I bought the machine and see what they think.

does it have the little medal piece on the right side facing you? I absolutely hate those things...its just a pain to sew with...on my old machine I broke off that piece on the 1/4 foot, on my new machine (Janome Horizon) I use the zigzag foot and the preloaded 1/4 setting...works just as well and it doesn't catch on any seams...JMHO
