Question in regard to sewing feet

I know I saw a post here quite some time ago about the Joiner foot being the same as or being used in place of a stitch in the ditch foot. I am attempting my very first king size quilting project and can not really afford to purchase another new foot I just got a walking foot but find it very difficult to follow the ditch well. Any help is appreciated

Just a thought: Instead of stitch in the ditch, why not shadow stitch? Your walking foot would work well for shadow stitching and there would be no need to purchase another foot.

I think that pattern would look splendid done with a 1/4" stitch line (or perhaps less than 1/4" ) inside each of the blue blocks, and then the same distance on the white around the box. So what you'd end up doing would be emphasizing the block/box look, rather than the sashing/strip look.

Both stitch lines, I'd do in matching threads to the blue/white, or you might consider the same variegated thread for both ... just not sure how it'd look though.

I agree whole-heartedly with the previous posters, I think it would look great if you did 1/4" on both sides of the seam instead of in the ditch.

If you'd like to see some examples of how your quilt may look with that kind of quilting, check out this quilter - almost everything she quilts is straight-line quilting.
