Question regarding aida fabric for block

I have completed embellished cross stitch patterns that I would like to make into quilts. They are on aida fabric. Someone told me to use muslin on the back. Does this mean to stitch around the edges to put the muslin on the back or should I use a fusible something on the back? I do not know what to do or what to use. Can someone help me, please, so I do not ruin my pieces? Thank you.

I would try to find a lightweight woven fusible interfacing and iron it to the back of the blocks using low heat before piecing the quilt. Aida cloth would be quite loose & maybe stretch without a stabilizer in a quilt. IMHO

I made counted cross stitch on aida cloth and put the 5" blocks into the centers of 9 patch blocks. I had no problem, did not use stabilizers and had no problems when I washed it. I made this in 1995 for my Mom and it's still going strong.

I would not use "iron on" anything! You're going to get a very lumpy background due to the stitches. I would use a sew-in interface or a perma-press muslin. Also I don't know if you've checked the shrinkage of aida cloth but you might want to.

I hope that you used a tighter smaller weave of Aida and I think it would depend on how large your blocks are. Good Luck and keep us informed with what works !!!
