Have you tried it and does it hold well after washing? I know I should
have asked this before going ahead with it. So far it looks really neat.
I used the clasp stitch on the border and it saved me a lot of grief.

Oops. I should have mentioned that it's Mode 2, stitch 73 which looks
like an asterisk. You use this stitch instead of tying and there are no tails.

i only know i want that machine! can't help though, mine is a MC4800.

Just as an update, I've washed the quilt with the clasp stitch on the border
and I'm pleased to report that it held up very well. :D :D :D :thumbup:

I have a Janome 10001 that has that stitch. I have used it before and it stays fine. Each one of those "decorative"
stitches that can be done individually are automatically knotted off when finished stitching.

I used it to "tie" a Christmas crazy quilt tree skirt I made for my DIL. She sent it back to me 3 years later to add their new son's name to it. Those stitches are just fine as well as all the other decorative stitches I used making that quilt. OK, it probably had only been washed 2 or 3 times, but still held up.

I use a New Home Memory Craft 7000 and have used a similar stitch, which I call a Snowflake, to tack quilts. I worked with a group of church women to make lap robes and this stitch held them together perfectly. I made a few of my very first quilts, using this stitch and they have held up for better than 10 years. It is multiple stitches and then the machine does a tacking (repeat stitch in place) at the end.

For the lap robes that went to nursing homes, they were just an added touch and not yarn to get picked at or to fall off.
