Your Hunter Star quilt is gorgeous! http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/22228.page I bought a book and am planning one myself.
Did you use the RAPID FIRE HUNTER STAR ruler to make it? It's kind of pricey and I was wondering if it's worth it for that ruler. Thanks! |
Hello, no I didn't use a special ruler for the Hunter's Star quilt, just diamonds, triangles, and trapezoids. It's a pattern put out by Brenda Henning from Alaska. Hope this helps you. :-)

Well then, I guess I'll pass on the ruler - it was over $20! I had come across it when searching for a pattern/book, which is what prompted my post.
I found a great book "Hunter Star Quilts and Beyond: Techniques and Projects with Infinite Possibilities" by Jan Krentz. It was only $11 thru Amazon. It has several methods, traditional pieced, applique, strip pieced, etc. and lots of color pics to inspire! Your quilt is awesome! I was looking for ideas for something to make for my son that wasn't too girly looking. I think the Hunter Star pattern and batiks will be perfect. Thank you for your reply! :) |
What a deal you got on the book! I hope you enjoy making your Hunter's Star as much as I did. Take care. :)

I have used the rapid fire hunter's star ruler. I took the hunter's star class with Deb Tucker. I found the ruler to be a great help. The quilt went together quickly and with precision.

the hunter star is the same as the gretchen block. it's all in the color placement. if you compare them carefully, you will see what they have done with color. http://www.quilterscache.com/H/HuntersStarBlock.html |
