I was wondering if anyone has made the quilt stardust and if so, how hard was it? I have the pattern but don't know how challenging it is. I bought it from keepsake quilting. Also what colors would be nice to use in it? Thanks in advance for any reply.

well it looks doable. or is that do able? anyway it is one you would go slow on and read directions carefully. did it come with foundation patterns to use. I'm assuming it is paper piecing at the very least. I love it!! I like the colors I saw it in online but many others would work. just what you want in it is what's important.

One web site I looked it up on said it was an intermediate skill level. But also said that it was "easier than it looks"
So go for it!

I have to change the colors, especially the pink and purple but don't know what to replace them with.

You can do it.

One thing about Derek Lockwoods patterns they are ( or mostly) all templates.... Some would be much easier if paper pieced. I did covert a few to paper piecing. With all the bias edges ..starch can be your best friend.

That is a pretty quilt - I'm sure you will love it. What colors are in the room you want to put it in? What are your faborite colors? Answers to those questions could tell you what other colors to use in place of pink and purple.

Well, there's already a lot of blue and green in that quilt.... you could replace the pink with red and the purple with orange, maybe? Another thought - maybe convert it to all greens and blues.

I am working on a Derek Lockwood design right now that I got out of a quilt book from the Library. WHEN I get it finished, I will be screaming HOORAY so loud everyone will hear me. It will be lovely when done but certainly not a quick project. I haven't made all that many quilts and this is the most tedious one so far that I have done. Or maybe I am just tired. A D4P is certainly a whole lot simpler. His designs are beautiful.

That is a gorgeous quilt! Looks daunting, but as long as you are careful and take your time it should be fairly straightforward as the designs are consistently repeated. Definitely would not be a quickie, at least not for me. But I certainly would like to attempt it - someday when I'm not trying to get whatever I'm doing done in a hurry.

As to your color changes, what sort of look are you wanting?

I would likely keep to the cool side of the spectrum and add more complimentary blues and greens. Of course I would also keep the purple just because I love it!

It would also be lovely done all from the warm side of the spectrum in reds, oranges and yellows. Completely different feel - more tropical sunset idea that way.
