I've just completed the top of a quilt and have a few questions for those with more ability then I. Do I sew the binding on now and then do the top-stitching or do I wait until I have it all joined to the batting and backing? I should know this by now but I swear I have fibro fog most days now. Those with fibromyalgia will relate.

I know my books say not to cut the batting until you have the back on but I'm never sure how this is supposed to be. It will be machine quilted in the ditch when I decide how to get it all together in one unit.

The binding is the last thing to be sewn on.

The binding is the very last thing you do.

You have to layer the quilt sandwich -- top, batting, backing. Spray basting is the fastest and easiest way to do this, but you can also do it with safety pins or with large basting stitches done by hand. The important thing is to make sure there are no wrinkles, especially in the backing. You typically don't trim the batting until after the quilting is done.

How big is the quilt?

By top-stitching, do you mean decorative stitching on the quilt top? Or do you mean the quilting?
