Hello - I am doing a Dresden with a wide tripple side/bottom border and not sure if I should do the top the same because I would like to center the Dresdens on the top of the bed. I was wondering if you have ever left a space on your quilt for "tucking" under the pillows and/or made the top border narrower than the sides? I have looked throught the pics but can't find one that shows the top vs the side borders...If so, how wide did you make the "tuck"? I am thinking, one row of Dresdens (along the pillows), tuck, then 5 rows of Dresdens, narrower border at the top and 20" on sides/bottom...thanks for any suggestions!

PS: I am a "tucker" and I don't like the thought of a dresden being half tucked under the pillows...maybe I am thinking more bedspread than quilt...ummm...

Yes on all accounts.
If you want to center the plates on the part of the bed south of the pillows, then just adjust the measurements for the centering, tucking, etc.
I've had some bed quilts where I didn't attach a top border, or did put one that was substantially smaller than the sides and bottom.
If I didn't need the length, there really was no need for it. As long as it covers top of the pillows a bit, it was fine.
