I have some fabrics that I'd like to make a tablecoth out of, and have a couple of questions for those who have made them. I'm sure there are many ways to do this, and I'd like to hear your favorite methods before I get started.

When you do a pieced tablecloth, do you back it and/or bind it the same as if you were doing a quilt?

Do you use anything in place of batting, like maybe some flannel?

How to you quilt it; SITD, FMQ, other?

Thanks.

I would suggest using a backing and binding. Yes you will need to stabilize it in some fashion. I would suggest just SID. I have seen some with Warm n Natural inside but they just don't drape well.

I would think felt, flannel, or some lightweight fleece would work well as batting. And, yes, you definitely want to bind and quilt it. SID would be plenty.

I agree, a friend of mine made one and did not use batting. It draped well and was not so bulky. She did some FMQ on it but, SID would look nice too.
