I made a PP Log Cabin quilt-top (from Red, White n Blue Xxx Xxxx fabrics. Rinsed the top using Gentle cycle; to get rid of the last little bits of paper. Dried the Top on Warm...discovered several small scattered areas all over the quilt top where the fabric had shredded out of the seaming. Have repaired these areas. Is there any hope for closely quilting this Top without it becoming TOO STIFF?

Without a photo, it is hard to tell but it sounds like you have a solid plan. I have NEVER washed a top before but I normally HAND WASH quilts in the bath tub. I would NEVER trust a washer with one of my quilt. But I totally understand wanting to be rid of those little bits of paper. GOOD LUCK !! :lol:

In general, the more quilting, the stiffer the quilt, however, some batting is more supple than others. I would look into using bamboo. Maybe do a small sample sandwich with the amount of quilting you are thinking about.

boy, it sounds like you need to quilt over those seams well. perhaps a zig zag stitch. something that will hold them together over time or you will have that problem again.

I would use a wool batting.

I would just fuse a back piece to those seam areas! I have done that plenty of times...

What would you use as the fusible?
