Quilt from baby clothes

I have kept pieces of my daughter's baby clothes to be able to make a quilt someday. Should I put stabilizer or anything behind the fabric pieces because they are all different fabrics to make the quilt.

I think it depends on the weight of the fabric......if there are knits you will need stabilizer to prevent stretching and rolling, but if the clothes are cotton, I personally would not use a stabilizer....unless they're really thin/lightweight. Good luck with your project.

I don't know the name of it but there is a stabilizer specifically for silk. I used it on old shirts for a memory quilt and it worked great. (some were cotton, some were flannel but all were well worn.). I purchased it from LQS that sells silk dupone fabric.

I stabilized mine.

I'm not sure of answer to your question but I would like to see the quilt when you are done.

I used French fuse at the suggestion of a quilt shop on my t shirt quilt. For my daughters baby clothes quilt I used the lightest stabilizer I could find at Joann's and it worked well. I would definitely use it on any knits, onesies, t shirts etc, if you have fleece pjs or other things you wouldn't need it. I used minky on the back and love it..it's heavy but nice and soft and fluffy.
