I have read somewhere that you can glue or use fusible webbing to hold down binding when sewing it to the quilt. This is to prevent slippage etc. when sewing the binding to the quilt. Has anyone done this and was it successful.

I haven't tried it. I always wonder if the glue will get hard down the road after a few washings or just old age, maybe it will discolor my quilt. I purchased reqular quilt binding clips (they look like hair clips) I find these hold the binding well so I can hand stitch to back after machine stitching to the front Good luck . I hope you find a product that works for you.

What binding method are you using that you would need to do this? I do the single fold method, and you just hold it to the edge of the quilt and sew with your walking foot, and there is no slippage.

She has freestuff on there, and a neat video called Binding the Angel, which shows her method of glueing binding on to hold it while she sews, rather than using pins. Since she wins a LOT of competitions, her method must work. She uses Elmer's School glue which washes out, so it doesn't go hard.

I think Sharon Shaumberg had a method of attaching binding where you use Elmer's school glue to hold down the binding and make it perfect before you sew it. You would need one of those really tiny glue tips things (I have one)
Elmers washes out. I personally wash every quilt before it goes out the door. I have not tried this for a binding but will be this weekend on a Downey quilt. You use a very thin strip of glue and then iron it to dry it and make it stick. Do not use a lot, you don't want it to go through the fabrics. I have used it to hold my quilt labels onto the quilt in the right position as I hand stitch them down. I got tired of getting my hands torn apart with pins!!! Remember, tiny amount of glue, press w/ hot iron, holds things together until you sew.
