The new Janome Horizon has a Quilt Binding Set for putting on binding in no time flat.....it fits several of their other models.

Does anyone have one, used one for any type of machine, do you recommend...or what. I have a Janome MC 6600P and it fits it also....the retail price is $244.....yikes....but I hate to bind so I was wondering if this would be a good deal or not....LOL.

Check out Sharon Schambers you tube video on doing binding. It may change your mind about binding! Personally, Im not in favor of machine finished binding. I only do that on charity quilts.

I don't have a Janome but I Googled the set to see it. It looks like it only does single fold binding. Like bias tape. Personally, I would only bind a mini or maybe a wallhanging with single fold binding. I just don't think single fold will hold up to alot of the use that well-loved quilts get.

I used to hate binding too. And I was terrible at it. But I used somne of Sharon Schambers techniques and a few others and now I actually kind of enjoy it and they look much better. I would keep practicing. It will come.

I love hand sewing binding down. It is my favorite part.
I just don't care for sewn on binding. Just my preference.

i wouldn't pay that much for a binding tool. although it sounds good, i'm sure there is a learning curve to it and some effort involved to bind the quilt. personally, i don't like binding a quilt. but practicing has improved my results.

I think that is rather expensive.

I've watched Sharon's video a time or two...I will watch it few more. I just hate to bind. The gadget takes your binding strips and fold them in half and in half again for a 1/2 finished bind all the way around. I just don't like the hand sewing part of it. I am ok with the rest....just don't like to hand sew it is too much like sewing and not quilting....LOL.....just my opinion.

I don't sew anything....I piece fabric....so I only quilt....I was never good at sewing patterns in school or there after so I gave it up. I'm sure now that I know what I am doing, I could figure it out and make some pretty stuff...but the only pretty stuff I want to make is quilts....quilts and more quilts....LOL.

A lady friend here in town usually binds all my quilts for me....I pay here dearly throughout the year to have them done.

I just posted a pictured the other day of my Shirley's Fleece Backed quilt and I made the whole thing from start to finish to include the binding....that is the 4 or 5th quilt I have binded by myself....I still didn't like it at all, however, there was alot of satisfaction knowing that it was done 100% by me and only me.....so I guess there is that too!

I pay an elderly lady to do my binding. I attach it to the quilt and she hand stitches it down for me. I COULD do it myself, but she likes to feel useful and appreciates the cash!
