Is there a site that lists all of these with the quilt artists on board that will be the teachers, because there is one next month with one of the quilt artist that has been my favorite quilts at show and she is teaching on it and I could just kick myself that I didn't know about this last year to save up.

If you just google Quilt Cruises, you will get a list of all the companies that hold these cruises. They will usually tell you exactly who the teachers will be and most of them show pictures of the quilts that they will be making. Just remember that the cost of the cruise does not always include the cost of the quilt kit. I was looking into taking one of these cruises also. There are also a few posts on this board from other people that have taken these cruises and give their opinion of the various ships.

I would love to take one of the quilting cruises, but don't think that will ever happen. I only have a couple of friends who I would want to go on vacation with who quilt, and my DH would not want to go with me, he likes to cruise but doesn't quilt. Oh, woe is me. I guess it is never to be.

There are plenty of activities on board to keep your DH occupied and there are always tours when the ship is in port that you both can take advantage of.

Hubbies can go. there are other activities on board for non quilters, he can enjoy those while you quilt, and then you can enjoy the sites at the ports together as well. When I go my husband will definitely be going. Awhile back there was one quilting cruise that also involved phtography one of my husbands passion, but didn't have funds at the time but he definitely would have done it. My husband loves cruises as much as i do. Its usually cheaper cost for hubbies since they aren't taking the classes a cruise ship is too big to be for just quilters and I am sure many take non quilters as well so they would have to have stuff on board for non quilter's.

Sorry but I don't get it. I've been on 3 cruises and had a lot of fun (with my hubby), but going was a vacation that I saved up for. I did it for relax, see new places, try new things. I sew/quilt at home, why pay for a cruise to sit and sew?

A lot of times you don't just sit and sew. There are lots of notable and famous quilters who teach on the cruises. Having access to a quilt teacher for a week, not having to cook and clean, eating delicious food, seeing gorgeous scenery, hanging out with other women who are quilters - what's not to like? There are also lots of non-quilting activities organized. One of my friends went on a quilt cruise last year and loved it, but she said lots of times she was torn between the quilting activities and non-quilting activities that were at the same time.

I quilt by myself every day. Quilting in a group would BE a new thing for me to try, and something I think I would enjoy. I'm not a sunbather, don't really care to swim, and can't imagine taking a cruise where there wasn't something to do all day other than look out at water.

Diversity makes the world go 'round, yeah?

Maybe working full time and not quilting as much as I'd like makes a difference, too?

I would love to take one. Just the opportunity to meet other quilters and learn new things sound exciting to me!

For a long time I could not understand what the big deal was to go on a quilt retreat. TIL....I was invited to one and teach a class. So I went, and guess what? Now I love them and go on everyone I can. It's fun to spend time with other people who know the lingo (fat quarter, jelly rolls, etc.), have meals prepared for me and sew to my heart's content. Plus, there is always something new to learn. So now I understand the big deal. JMHO

Oh there is more than just swimming, they have shows, casino, rockclimbing, lounges with music, golf i think on some, plus there are many nonquilt related excursion on shore, all meals are cooked beautifully, buffet anytime you want, maids clean your room. Staff is amazing wonderful and hardworking. They are great even without the quilting and I long to go on another one. The benifit of the quilt cruises is the world renowned teachers aboard that you can learn from is why I would want to go. My hubby also loves cruising and is dying to go on another one so don't discount hubbies. They also had craft activites aboard my last one, not quilt related, but there were different activities. I mostly enjoyed the fine dining, the broadway style shows at night, and the lounges. I think I got in the hot tub one time on the cruise. My hubby liked the rock climbing wall. I took a couple good books to read on deck. I highly recommend at least going on a short regular weekend one to see if you will like it, just in case you get sea sick which i don't think is too easy unless you hit rough waters ie a hurricane otherwise you hardly feel the boat move unless you are on the top deck of the ship you can feel it. You can get sick in rough waters so I don't recommend going during hurricane season...........................
