Does anyone know where to find the blueprints to make a quilting frame? Someone wants to make one for me.

I have seen on either, Keepsake Quilting or Connecting Threads this type of plans. Another great resource is the frame companies themselves. The will sell you the rachets and plans. Let me research this a bit and I will post more information by tomorrow.

My mother-in-law used 2 1x4inch x10 foot boards to which she tacked muslin to pin the ends of the quilt. She then rolled the boards with the quilt until she could reach across and clamped them at the ends to 2 shorter boards with a c-clamp to maintain a tension. Place them on the backs of chairs, or whatever else is handy for height, and quilt away. When you have to get it out of the way, it will lean behind the couch or against a wall if there is room. In the old days, they would hang them on pulleys and ropes to the ceiling, and raise it out of the way until needed. A little primitive, but I have used them alot, and they are no more hard to use than a regular quilting frame for me. The thing I like about them is that they are always long enough, and my fancy quilt frame is not.

Try ebay! My sis found her pattern there.......and I purchased mine (an older one with ratchets) complete from a woman on ebay..........both are wonderful!

I am looking for a real picture of a quilting frame hung from the ceiling, and it is almost impossible to find. Do you have one? You said your mother still uses hers. I inherited an antique wone that is quite sturdy and I'd love to hang it just as they did. I just can't picture it.
