I keep one.
I love scrapbooking, and have done it for years. So, I used to put any of my sewing projects in them, but now they have their own album. I probably go all out a bit more than most, though, LOL! I make my scrapbook layouts to be art unto themselves! What I do is this: I am using a scrapbook, of course, the 12x12 size. With each quilt or project I make, I make a 2 page layout with pictures, swatches of fabric, etc. I also add 2 more pages with the pattern, and my notes, any journaling I may do, explaing when, where, why, how I was feeling, etc. If I can get my camera back(long story, my son has it) I will post some pics. While I don't do digital scrapbooking, here is a site that has a bunch of free layouts to print off for quilting scrapbooks: http://www.quiltscrapbook.com/ These are the types of layouts/pages I have in my quilt journal/scrapbook. Lots of great ideas here: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gall...uilt_journal_/ |
I have Quilt Registry books.
Always take a picture and record relevant information : size, pattern, for whom, dates, who quilted and how much it cost to quilt, price of quilt for sale etc. |
What a great idea. Thanks everyone for sharing. I have only completed 3 quilts and a wall hanging, so I should be able to start a journal now, before overload sets in. Jinnie

I don't journal about my quilts but I do take photos of them.

I have a little $2 photo album from Dollar General. I put in a photo of the finished quilt, and of any details I particularly am proud of/want to remember (I give a lot of my quilts away). Then I put in an index card, either behind the photo or on the facing page, that has anything I can remember about the quilt: when I started, when I finished, where the pattern came from, who it was for, what type of batting, binding, etc. was used.
For the quilt I just designed for my sister's baby, I kept all the diagrams, schematics, measurements, templates, etc. together in one manila envelope so that I can make it again. |
Thanks ladies for all this great info...I have to get started on this....you have given me some good ideas....I definitely think it is a good idea to record where the pattern came from so you can find it if you want to do it again...
