I am making a quilt to donate to my job. It is for a fundraiser for the family of one of our salesmen who passed away. He was a wonderful man. I am not sure what to put on the label. I thought: IN MEMORY OF ....... Made by......Quilted by....
then the date.
any ideas?
Thank you
Linann

I think that sounds very appropriate.

How generous of you .

Sounds right for the label .

I have to be different here but I would only use in memory of if the quilt was going to one of his family members.

I would replace the word memory , and instead say "to honor life" you may not want to but the person who passed name on it. Unless it goes to someone who had a deep attachement to this person ... it might be a bit .... strange. I know I would not want a memorial quilt from someone who was not a family member or very close friend.

That sounds just fine the way it is.

I would have to agree, depending on who you are raffling it to, you may not want to put the “In memory” part. If the raffle is really only for people that knew him well, then I think it’s a great idea. If it is going to be open to the public as well (which will probably raise more money), then I would just put your name and the quilter’s name. I would buy a quilt like that to help out the family of the deceased, but I would be buying it as something useful for my home and wouldn’t necessarily want it to memorialize someone I don’t know.

Good luck!

I would leave off "in memory of" in the label too. It is a raffle quilt, and may not be appreciated by the recipient. Instead, maybe attach a note card that states "In Memory of" that can be kept if the recipient knew the gentleman. JMHO

This quilt was created to honor a life well lived by "John Smith"

Sewn by "Suzy Homemaker"

Thank you all for the input. I had a lot of those same thoughts also. I am going to go with what Ulgycook wrote. I think that on works the best.
Thank you all again

The way I worded it is "This quilt was made to honor the life of John Smith. I left the well out because someone I talked to thought the well meant health....He did not have good health.
I finished it and brought it to work today. They plan on a silent auction....I think more $$ can be raised with a raffle.
