Back when I started to really focus on making quilts, I was told you should alway name your quilts, So I alway name my quilts, Was someone just pulling my leg?
|
NOPE
|
I've never heard that I should name my quilts. I guess I'll have to start now. What's the reason for naming them.
|
Names are pretty important. I think they add life to the quilt and make it more personal.
I used the "lover's knot" quilt pattern for a friend's daughter's high school graduation quilt. I liked the pattern but not the name. (Don't want to give freshmen college girls ideas!) So I renamed the quilt "Student Study Knot". :P A few years later I made a black and white quilt with hot pink accents. That quilt was named "Good and Plenty". Sometimes my quilts get named for the pattern I'm using, "Tennessee Waltz". Other times something occurs while I'm making the quilt that creates a unique name for the quilt, such as "Big Yellow". And still other quilts are just named for the recipient, "Susy's Quilt" for example. You get the idea. I'll be thinking of a name for the quilt while I'm working on it. Some quilts names are easy and others not so! Bottom line I have as much fun naming the quilts as making them. |
I've always signed and dated them but never named them. Never heard that one before.
|
I had never heard of this either, Vicki. I'll have to start thinking about it. When I do my quilt label it always has the name of the pattern, my name and date completed. It's always fun to see new ideas on things like this!!

I made a quilt using a flying geese pattern. All fabric came from walmart dollar table. I named it cheap bird LOL It was 100 per cent cotton quilting fabric. It prewashed very well.

Howz about the name "Birdies go Cheep, Cheap, Cheep"?
 |
