Quilt from old embroidered tea towels, napkins and doilies
Has anyone made a quilt from those items? My friend wants to do this and asked me to help design it. I know with all the knowledge and experience combined on this board, someone may have pictures to show what they have done and would be so kind as to post them.

here is an old thread on the topic that might have some ideas for you http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t176495.html

Funny you brought this up, because I have just started collecting these items for just such a project! I'd love to see pics of yours. Have fun with it!

I bought a pattern using these items at one time but I cannot find it. It is driving me nuts.

I am working on doing this, have made my blocks and now am sashing. It has taken some planning and way more time than I thought it would, I think or rather I hope I will be pleased with the end result. I did it in log cabin style. Although with some of the pillowcase embroidery that initial block is different sizes in a lot of the blocks. In between I have put together other blocks with windmills, nine patch etc. When I get this done I will post a picture. (Positive thinking on my part...lol) I have used up quite a bit of fabric I had, but had to pick up some, so much for using up scraps. It is a big quilt to fit on a queen size bed.

You mention tea towels as well. I have picked up some very nice vintage ones, that I use as a tea towel. They are reasonably priced at yard sales and second hand stores. When I have looked at them, I thought to myself they would be pretty in a quilt, the one thing that holds me back is the fact that some of them are linen and not sure how they would work, but they would be pretty.
