I did a pattern from a magazine and had the opposite problem - three strip sets when two would have sufficed for each set = tons of fabric leftover. I am still deciding if I am going to make the quilt bigger or make another lap size from the leftovers. Sheesh, what a waste of good fabric I could have kept in my stash! Live and learn...

I design quilts and sometimes find the pattern writing to be the hardest part of the whole project. What makes sense to me as a quilter of 10 years may not make sense to someone just starting out.
I try to put a lot of picture diagrams if possible in my patterns for this reason. It would be wonderfully helpful (but not really practical) to have someone else make each quilt before I publish the pattern. :)
