I know there are a lot of resources available online. (sometimes I can't find them  )
Could someone recommend a book with sampler squares/patterns? Thank you for your input!

Have you tried www.quilterscache.com?

As far as a book, I have one called 400 Quilt Blocks by Linda Causee. I use it often. The only negative about it is the blocks are not named so when you make a quilt everyone wants to know what the block is called and I have no idea what the name is.

Ambquilter is right about quilterscache.com There are several sizes to choose from, as well as blocks listed by alpha, or just do page by page of the blocks and choose which ones appeal to you. I have used many, many of her block designs over the years. Directions are nicely done, and she gives the hint of degree or level of hardness it takes to make the block.

Thank you for the useful info Angie and Deb!

I can't wait to go exploring on qc. And I will look around for the book, too.

(I feel like a kid planning a new art project-lol)

There are also books by Maggie Malone - the last I recall is 5,500 Quilt Blocks, or something like that. She gives pictures and names of the blocks. It is up to the user to determine size needed and draft patterns.

I recently discovered the following site where they email me a link to a new pattern every day. Today was Day 27. So far the blocks are all fairly simple and they are all the same size. You do have to sign up, to receive the email & poke around in the other pages. I found all the blocks without having to wait for the daily email by poking around on it earlier. The link is at the bottom of the page after you login.

I have Maggie Malone 1001 quilt patterns and her 500 Full-Sized Patchwork Patterns which are old books but all sizes are given for blocks and I've used a few of those over the last 25 years
