I see a lot of posts about attending quilt shows. How do you find out about them? Guess there was one in Cincinatti recently. I could have driven there ...only a little over an hour away. Is there a calander that lists them some where?

Quilt shows can be a lot of fun to attend. The one that was in Cincinnati is put on by the same people who put on the big show in Houston every yr. I will warn you that if you don't like crowds, you might not enjoy shows like that as there could be as many as 50,000 people there at any given time! You also need to give yourself a minimum of 2 days to really see the entire show & visit at least some of the vendors. If you have a local guild they might put on a show every yr or 2. Start with a show like that & work your way up to the larger ones.

Quilters Newsletter Magazine usually lists upcoming quilt shows. I believe other quilt mags might do the same thing. You can also sign up online to rceive notices of upcoming shows. Google Mancuso Brothers and you will see where to sign up for their shows. The same for the American Quilters Society (AQS) and International Quilt Festival (IQF). Also, if you have any local quilt stores, they generally will have info regarding local shows.

How close are you to Paducah? Big show there every year and the quilting museum! I have never been but would love to go some day just to see the museum.

I find out about most of them from one the guilds, or see a flyer at a quilt shop, or hear about it from quilting friends. When one of the guilds is planning a show, they usually advertise at all the local quilt shops, senior centers, public announcements on radio, local newspaper, etc. Bigger organizations that put on national shows always have their web sites, and you can find out about their shows there.

Another way is to Google Kentucky quilt shows or Kentucky quilt guilds. Many times a guild will have a web site and will list their show there. When you attend a show, there is often information about the next one.

Here is one I found:

I think it is an eight hour drive. My daughter and I were going to go a few years back, but when I tried to book lodging (in August) there was not a room to be found! The show is in April. So I have pretty much given up on that one :)
