I'm driving from MT to SoCAL in two weeks or so via interstate 15, then over to Newport Beach. I'd appreciate hearing about the best quilt stores on the route - since I'm traveling alone, I can stop anywhere I want and spend hours at each store! How fun is this going to be! Thanks for any input. OK - my break is over. Back to quilting!

Once you are in So Cal, please try to drop by Gingers in Upland. Wonderful selection, wonderful people working there. It is my favorite of all in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Here is a link to their store. http://gingersquiltshoppe.com/ |
I got so excited when I read the title of this thread, until I read it a little closer. You're going from MT to CA, and I thought you were going from MA to CT - Massachusetts to Connecticut. :( I know nothing of the west coast, but if you're looking for quilt shops between Mass and CT, I can help you there. Have a fun trip!

If you are in the Northridge area, check out Candy's Quiltworks at 8549 Reseda Blvd. She does not have a web site yet. There is over 10,000 bolts of high quality quilt fabric. In fact she is having a 30% off sale on everything in the store this Saturday. I will be there when the doors open.

If your traveling across 90 to I-5 you can stop in Ritzville :-D
Heck you can even pick me up. I love road trips. ;) |
If you are coming through Gillette, Wyoming we have The Quilt Nook. Lots of flannel, batting, just about anything you would need. Not so much oriental if that is what you like, but plenty to choose from. If you are going to go I-15 then I am going to be out of yoru way. Sorry about that, but a great shop anyway.

When I have travelled and want to find quilt shops I look in the yellow pages, and then call them to make sure that they are still there, open, etc. This happens, of course, when I have stopped driving for the day.

I would pick up the latest volume of "Quilter's Travel Companion." It has all the quilt stores listed by state.
