Quilt as you go ?
 

Well, I thought I had solved my quilting problem with a "Quilt as you go " method. Got all of my 12 inch squares quilted and sewed together in to a really nice single size quilt for grand daughter. here's my problem when it came to putting the binding on i had pretty good sized quilt, My machine kept sliding all over the table, is there any way to keep it from moving, I tried putting some rubberized shelf lining under it, but that didn't help much. Any suggestions would be great, The machine is a "signature quilters edition" and is not very heavy. the table is a plastic fold-up I bought at walmart.

do you have a dining table that you can sew on?

Sounds like you need to support the weight of the quilt.

You know those rubberised car mats they are great to get a machine to stop slipping. Cut it to size with just a little over where the feet on your machine, and use any leftover piece to put your machine foot pedal on to stop that wandering as well.

Do you have any of that rubberized stuff that you line cabinets with? Thats what I use. I got a roll at the Dollar Tree or Dollar Store, whatever it is called for, yep, you guessed it: $1.00!!

the drag of the quilt is possibly the problem--set the machine table next to dinning yable --ironing board--do not let any of the quilt hang off the surfaces---i have seen a picture of a well known quilter that had the quilt clipped on chains hung from the cieling thus taking up all the drag

I like to open up a card table and position it so the quilt has a place to support it. Sometimes it is at the back, and sometimes at the side.

An ironing board, set at the same height as your sewing table (positioned on the opposite side of you) edged to the table is great to hold the weight and hopefully prevent sliding.
