Are any of you making artist trading cards that are quilted?

Here are the quilted Artist Trading Cards that I have made using Derwent Inktense pencils and tangle patterns (Zentangle style). I use Sakura Micron Pigma pens .05, 01, 05, and 08. I also use Pentel Gel Roller for Fabric pens. The black pens are used after applying and activating the dry color.

I have looked at quilted ones on the internet, but I would like to see ones that you have made.

For a tutorial on using Inktense pencils go to: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-140040-1.htm

Artist Trading Cards are 2.5" x 3.5", the size of a playing card. Quilted ones can be made with a layer of Peltex (or other brand) as the center layer which adds stiffness.

Search on Google or other search engine for "quilted artist trading cards."

How beautiful. What do you do with them? Do they go into a quilt? You do fantistic work. BrendaK

Lovely - do you buy your cards ready cut to size, or cut your own?

An Art + Quilt study group in our guild is having a swap when Lyric Kinard, quilt teacher of the year for 2011 by the International Association of Professional Quilters, presents at our quilt show in Cedar Rapids, IA, in September.

I had never heard of ATC before and wasn't sure I wanted to participate. I don't know what I'll do with them, but after making mine, I don't want to give them away. : )

They are just very little quilts that get swapped or sold. I think some people keep them in plastic sleeves or sheets with pockets.

I use muslin (Jo-Ann's Legacy Studio). I draw with a pencil and color. I make more than one on a piece of fabric. I layer with Peltex and backing, free motion stitch, cut apart, and then stitch around the edges.

janeknapp, your cards are fabulous. I love the patterns you have drawn on them. I have been practising Zentangles for the past couple of weeks and feel like trying it on fabric now but your use of colour first is a great idea. I was thinking of making some in just blck and white. Now I will have to try both plain and coloured. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the compliment!

My husband said to tell you that the artist trading cards are actually little quilts for leprechauns.
