Hi everyone, I want to make quilted potholders for presents so I made one gave it to my daughter because I don't cook. Cannot rember last time I cook or what I cooked anyway. She told me that it did not keep the heat away from her hand. I used one layer of insul-Bright, silver ironing board fabric, warm and natural batting. What did I do wrong ? Please help. Thanks. I was told that you need a layer of insul- bright and two layers of wsarm and natural. I have never made any though.

I use insulbright with two layers of warm & natural. I do not use the silver ironing board stuff. I don't like it.

Just use two or three layers of cotton...no silver or insul. that holds heat you do not want to do that.

I made some recently for a friend..she said they worked well and she didn'thave burnt fingers when she used them. I used insulbrite sandwiched between 2 layers of cotton batting. According to the insulbrite it's supposed to be placed with the shiny side towards the heat, which is what I did. Don't know how much it matters though.

i use 2 ;ayer of insulabright and the criscross pot holder patter on the tut here, (it's alot of fabric0 but my hands never get burned

i have always had this same problem, i finally (after years of attempts) stopped even trying to make a potholder that would not burn you...i've tried everyone's suggestions, special this, special that, warm & natural, terry towels, insulbrite,
every pot holder i ever made, looked pretty good but was worthless. so i wish you lots of luck. i know people make them every day...wish i could figure it out, but i moved on, i just go buy them now...

my hubby is very sensitive. he feels heat much more than i do and complains. maybe she does too.
