Hi, I have seen a quilter kind of smallish in a Joann's store in the Milwaukee area. But have never had time to be able to follow through and see what it is. Does anyone know what it is and if it is "an easy to use" method. It actually looks like it would only be able to do width of a baby quilt or larger if it is in strips.
I guess if I was seriously interested in it I should have made the time to ask about it but I live 8 hours away and only visit occasionally. So don't have my own time when there.

Is it in the part of the store that has all the Viking sewing machines? If it is, I bet it is like the one in the store near me. It is just for 'show' and the frame that comes with it is bigger. But since they have limited floor space in the store, they put it on a small frame.

So maybe I should check out a Viking web site? It does make sense about the space. It is very cramped where they have it set up.

It's probably a Mega Quilter. They do go up to a king size I believe, they just have it smaller to take up less room in the store. I purchased one about 3 years ago. I had so much trouble with it, I took it back and got my money back. That's not to say they're a bad machine, just that I had way too many problems.

I have seen the quilting frame your talking about. I remember being surprised to see it there, but be aware they are quite $$.

That's awful, I'm sorry you had so much trouble with it. The viking in my Joann's wont take anything back ever. In fact I once tried to take back something that I'd asked for one thing and she'd sold me something completely different and the woman fought with me for 1/2 an hour before relenting and giving my money back! :shock:

Thanks for the information. I actually found a John Flynn Multi Frame Quilting Frame that can be used with a machine or by hand on e-bay. Don't know if I won the auction or not yet, time will tell. But I am thinking maybe that would work for me.
I have a very small house, definantely not enough room for a regular quilting frame/machine. I had thought maybe one that was small would be ideal.

I love my Flynn frame. It is wonderful! and the size can't be beat. You can go from wall size at abut 48" to a king size if you really want to buy the rods and fight with it. Personally, I think that even a queen is too much for it, but if you have the room, and the ability to stablize it, the Flynn is a good way to go.

So how do you use it with your regular sewing machine? What setting do you put your machine on?

I use my regular sewing machine, set sideways. I have the ability to not have to use the foot control so I don't use it.

I have the stitch length at 2.5 or 3 depending on thread, and the tension a bit looser than usual. Be sure to drop the feed dogs if you are doing freehand!
